On site
Software developer in Mainz.
The seat is Mainz. Across the Rhein-Main region I work on site, across the rest of Germany remotely — with the same commitments.
Proximity is not an end in itself, but it decides the weeks in which a project really starts. A data model is settled faster around one table than in four video calls, and anyone who has seen the shop floor, the warehouse or the counter once builds the software differently afterwards. So first appointments in the Rhein-Main region are usually appointments on site.
From Mainz, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Rüsselsheim are under an hour away, as are Ingelheim, Bingen and Worms. That is enough for a workshop before lunch, and for the meeting that would otherwise happen two weeks later. Travel inside that ring is not charged.
Clients here are rarely corporations: mid-sized manufacturing, logistics, retail and healthcare, plus agencies and firms with one grown application nobody wants to touch any more. Those systems are the starting point — the estate before the rebuild, and a way back at every step.
Outside the region the work is the same, only the meeting is remote. Nationwide engagements have run that way for years; the handover, the documentation and the accounts are yours in both cases.
